Barfi Movie Review

Barfi! Promo suggested movie to be from Rom-Com genre. But after watching movie it is not from any genre its from every genre without being a masala film. Yes, the movie fulfills the expectation everyone was having from it, be it a critics or audience. Barfi has the capability to win everyone’s heart.

Barfi starts in present time from where the narrator Mrs. Sengupta(Ileana D'Cruz) takes us to somewhere in 70’s and tell us about a guy named Murphy but everyone calls him Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor). Barfi is deaf and dumb but believes to live every moment of life and test his friends with his special friendship test. Shruti(Mrs. Sengupta) comes to Darjeeling with her family. Like any other bollywood film they both fall in love. Shruti’s mother(Rupa Ganguly) tells her that after the marriage you won’t be able to live in a silence and Shruti leaves Barfi behind choose Ranjit(Jishu Sengupta), a well settled man. But after the marriage there was silence in her life as they can’t feel each other.

Here in Darjeeling Barfi met her childhood friend(Jhilmil). After 6  years Barfi met Shruti in Kolkata with Jhilmil. One day Jhilmil lost away and when Mrs. Sengupta a.k.a. Shruti files a police case she came to know that Barfi is charged of bank robbery and kidnapping. How, Why, When all these question are answered by Anurag Basu, the director, in the film.

Film starts seriously moves to rom-com than to family drama than to romantic and lastly a suspence thriller. Characters are very well written by the writer and executed by actors. Comic scenes are wonderful. Love story of Ranbir-Priyanka is superb and divine, yes divine. Last scene where Jhilmil is calling Barfi but he can’t listen but Mrs. Sengupta can. Now she has to make a choice whether she shols tell Barfi or not is so well showed that audience can feel what’s going in the mind of her and that makes Anurag a winner.
From the first scene you feel connected Barfi and till the last you become too attached to Barfi that you don’t want to leave the hall but you have to.

First of all talks about the story, Anurag Basu’s story is interesting, new and a way better than present films. Director Anurag Basu tells his own written story in his own way and one word for that fantastic. Backdrop of the film, Darjeeling, gave cinematographer the chance to show his full talent and Ravi Varman gets full marks for that.

Only low thing about movie is that sometime it looks to go down because of long sequences. Editing isn’t that sharp as it has to be.

Ranbir Kapoor lives the character of Barfi and nothing else to tell about him. He is impressing everyone with his choice of films. Priyanka plays an autistic suffering girls and she did a fantabulous job here. Ileana in her maiden bollywood film is brilliant. Saurabh Shukla as police inspector is superb. All supporting characters are full rated.

Music is marvelous, sweet and fit to story. Pritam did an outstanding job here for which he is well-known. From the ‘Barfi!’ to ‘Sawali Raat’, 'Phir Le Aya Dil' or ‘Aashiyan’ every song is the heart of the movie.
Last Word, whichever genre you love Barfi! is for you. This Barfi! isn’t only sweet it is sour and soupy too.

 My Ratings: 4.5/5

Ek Tha Tiger Review

Ek Tha Tiger.... Most anticipated film of the year. In news since the announcement and why not it has reasons.... First Salman-Yashraj film after more than two decades of debut of the actor…  Katrina Kaif paired with Salman after four years, last in Yuvvraaj… past record of director, producer, hero, heroine.... There are many more facts that the film have and it carries a lots of expectation due to this.... So does the film really good and fullfill the expectations??

Ek Tha Tiger starts like other 'salman films' with an introductory fight-action sequence though there is no introductory song like 'Bodyguard','Hud Hud Dabangg' or 'Jalwa'. Film tells the story of a RAW agent code named 'Tiger' who hasn't take a single leave in past 12 years. His neighbours don't know anything about him.

Tiger sent on a mission where he has to keep an eye on a scientist of indian origin, in Dublin. There he meets his part time caretaker Zoya who is the only accessable person in professors house. To get entry he try to be friend with zoya and succeeds. But he starts to love her, than the film took twists on twists. She also loves tiger but can't express. So does they meet, how they meet its the whole second half.

Story of the movie is novel and simple. Written wonderfully by Aditya Chopra. Screenplay, by Neelesh Mishra and Kabeer Khan, do full justice with story. They don't leave any serious loopholes in the screenplay. Best part of screenplay is it switches fron scene to scene smoothly. All locations justify the screenplay. Action is like never seen before in Hindi Cinema, superb. cinemetography is wonderful, excellent and pleasent. Every location is shot wonderfully.

When you have Salman Khan in a film you don't need to assume who is Tiger. Your mind take no time to convince why he is Tiger. Salman shows his acting skills as tiger, be it an action scene, a romantic scene or serious scene he is brilliant. Katrina sizzles as Zoya. Best act by her till date. She too rocks in action sequences. Chemistry betweem Salman and Katrina is surely a big plus point of the movie. In supporting characters Ranveer Shorey (Gopi),Girish Karnad (Shenoy), Roshan Seth (Scientist), Gavie Chahal (Abrar) are full rate.

Direction of Kabir Khan is excellent. The best thing he did is the perfect balance between love story and action scene and that never let you feel bored.

Music of the movie is wonderful but doesn't meet the expectation. Salman, Yashraj, Kabir and Sohail Sen all have set standard for themselves in their previous films. 'Banjara', 'Saiyara', 'Mashallah' are wonderful and 'Lapata' is ok. All songs shot wonderfully. Backgroung Score perhaps the biggest USP after Salman and action sequence, full rate. Backgroung score have an big competition from hooting and screaming of the audience.

Last words, you like the movie or not you will love the atmosphere inside the hall.
